Workforce wellbeing isn’t a new concept. When the Lever Brothers built Port Sunlight for their factory workers, in 1888, they did so because they knew looking after the wellbeing of their workers would make their business more productive.
Meraki Corporate can support your organisation in many ways with many different offers.
Why choose Meraki? In short, because I straddle modern and ancient medicine and wellbeing techniques. I began training as a doctor in 1993 qualifying in 1998. I became a GP in 2006 and I continue to work as an NHS GP. I trained in Mindfulness Resilience Enhancement in 2013. I trained in acupuncture with British Medical Acupuncture Society in 2014. I studied for a PG Cert in Human Factors for Patient Safety (Staffordshire University) 2021/2022. I started my Reiki training in April 2023 and am progressing through to Reiki Master training in October 2024. I trained in meditation in 2024. I am passionate about emotional wellbeing and physical wellbeing. One supports the other and the mind-body connection is established within mainstream modern medicine. But, it has been the focus of the ancient practices at the center of Meraki Wellbeing.
Bringing me in to your organisation can serve many purposes. Maybe you have a wellbeing team that would like to hear about the evidence base for these ancient practices and experience them. I love the more interactive sessions when we get some movement in our bodies to ease off the aches we often get from sitting too much. Guiding people through their first mindful breaths and meditation, some taster reiki treatments or some acupressure. I can weave modern Human Factors and Ergonomics theories and ancient practices together which, in my opinion, gives me credibility.
Bite-sized Workplace Wellbeing
I don’t go to fancy restaurants where they give you a spoonful of lots of different tasty dishes. But, this is how I think of my favourite corporate session. It’s a great, shorter, session to introduce some wellbeing activities to your workplace. It works in person or online or a hybrid depending on what your team looks like. Given the breadth of my background, I can provide safe instructions and inclusive adaptations to everything we do. Everyone’s mind and body is unique to them. I make no assumptions around how much or how little anyone’s body can move. Psychologically we are all as varied and that’s the beauty of human beings for me. Our diversity. I like to lean in to this, celebrate it and encourage curiosity and invite in authenticity.
Wellbeing Workshop
This workshop gives us longer together and really lets us explore your workplace, your workforce and nuances. Prior to any workplace session, but especially with this more in depth session, We’ll connect and explore any specific priorities and ideally set some SMART objectives for you. This session really needs to be in person and if that involves me getting on a train and travelling several hours to you that’s OK! For a 4 hour session, my travel time and costs are part of the package cost.
Practical Points
Corporate Meditation offer
These sessions work great in person or on line. There are lots of fabulous meditation guides and practitioners out there. But, I like to think that I have a unique skill set and can bring some ancient wisdom and profound theology to my meditation sessions. But, I also bring some fun and relatability to my sessions. I can also explore the science of meditation and exactly when mainstream science knows about the changes in the body that happen in meditation. In short, using words we can all understand, I can explain why regular meditation helps you live longer and healthier lives.
Meditation helps us access small joys and glimmers of happiness through a busy day. Meditation for every day modern life is what I’m particularly passionate about. The level of technology most of us rely on day to day, for work and away from work, can drive our nervous systems faster and faster. Past events, trauma, stress and distress can mean we get stuck in the “Fright and Flight” response. Meditation can give us windows of respite from this and as a consequence of this, we can be more productive, happier and healthier.
Whilst my corporate focus is on introducing meditation to your workforce, I have a bank of meditation content available to purchase and have specifically created a suite of workplace wellbeing meditation content you may wish to purchase. These sessions focus on:
“Lunchtime refresh” for staff that take a 20 minute walk at lunchtime and listen to meditation or mindfulness as they walk.
“Mindful movements to ease stiffness from the body” for staff to access throughout their working day and away from work. The focus for these sessions is inclusivity and honouring the individual needs of everyone’s body.
“Meditation for sleep” which is fairly self-explanatory! Through some simple techniques, progressive muscle relaxation, and yoga nidra (yogic sleep) your workforce can be supported in their sleep. If your workforce works shifts, especially night shifts, this can be very helpful to support wellbeing.
